The following is the text of a letter issued by 24 members of the Oregon State Legislature last month, urging the University of Oregon to maintain wrestling as an intercollegiate sport.
(Note: A portion of the second paragraph is erroneous and has been corrected with the following text: "The wrestling team has achieved some of the highest grades and graduation rates among all of Oregon's intercollegiate athletic teams, and has consistently provided the best opportunity for native Oregonians to compete."
The sixth paragraph should reflect the fact that the money raised by Save Oregon Wrestling has come in the form of both pledges and cash donations. Both misunderstandings occurred as the result of the haste to craft the letter and then obtain signatures as the special session closed and the lawmakers prepared to return home.)
