Matt Lindland here Olympic and World Medalist and GOP nominee for State representative.
I know many of us have been gone and focused on the Olympics I was watching and cheering right along with all of you. I was at the US Opens supporting the athletes as well as at the trials. NOW it’s your turn to show me your support in my run for office
I am running for State Legislator and can’t do this without your help. We all talk about how we want change, I stepped and decided to do something about it, but I can’t do this alone everyone that reads this can step up and do something “contribute to this campaign” www.mattfororegon.com show whatever support you can, but show something and do it now. The Election is right around the corner, have your friends and colleges contribute
I stepped up will you?
As a kid growing up I dreamed of becoming an Olympic athlete. I stayed focused and I never lost sight of that goal. I wasn’t even the state champion when I wrestled for Gladstone high school. I understood the things I needed to do to win and made them my priorities. I took responsibility for my actions and I was always accountable for the results…win, lose or draw. I won seven national championships. And, in 2000, in Sydney, Australia, I stood on the Olympic podium as the Silver Medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling. And, it was never easy.
It was tough. It took lots of hard work. And it took incredible dedication…not bad traits for our Oregon State legislators to learn, wouldn’t you agree? No shortcuts; no easy ways out; no politics as usual…just hard work, dedication, focus and working smart.
Unfortunately, the politicians think throwing lots of our money at every problem is an easy fix, a quick shortcut and a convenient political fix. In fact, state government thinks we, the taxpayers, are their own personal ATM machines! No focus, no priorities, no accountability and no personal responsibility…just raise taxes.
Well, let me tell you, the last thing I want to do is to make it harder on families and businesses by raising taxes.
Someone needs to step up and say it’s enough—It’s time to start looking for practical solutions, It’s time for government to back off—slow down and quit looking for solutions in our bill-folds,
While the private sector is losing jobs the government is growing…that’s just plain wrong! We, none of us, can afford more government. We, all of us, need to say, “Enough! Let’s send a champion to the state house to fight for us and to represent us.” I’ll fight; I’ll work hard for you and I will focus on the things that will make our lives better.
We can’t fix everything by growing government and spending more—it’s time for the politicians to respect our hard earned tax dollars; to be accountable for what we get for our money and to be responsible in their actions and dedication..
I’ve received many blessings through hard work and dedication…my Olympic medal and my World Championship medal are just a few. I trained hard. I trained smart. I put in the extra time. I never looked for an easy way, because there is no such thing.
I know it’s not going to be easy to turn things around and change the trend of spending more and looking for easy answers. But, I’m up to the task. It’s going to take your support and my fighting abilities to help our government learn to work harder; work smarter; be accountable and show us results. We deserve no less in these tough times. Let’s work together and win together.
Thank you. Matt Lindland
